Building Your Data Skills Virtual Workshop Series

Building Your Data Skills Virtual Workshop Series

Join Cook Library and FACET to sharpen your data skills and expand your data proficiency. This workshop, hosted on January 25-27, 2022, will contain lessons that introduce working with data, the UNIX Shell, OpenRefine, and an introduction to Git. The workshop will be taught by trained instructors from Library Carpentry, an organization that focuses on building software and data skills within library and information-related communities. Find out more about Library Carpentry's Core Curriculum.

Faculty selected to participate will receive a $300 stipend for attending the workshop and subsequently developing a course assignment using these skills by April 1, 2022. A short application is required. Applications have closed. Confirmations will go out in the second week of January.

By participating in the workshop, you'll enhance your data scholarship with skills you can use in and out of the classroom. While the instruction will take place virtually, the Cook 208 Information Literacy Classroom will be reserved for learners who prefer a classroom setting.

The workshop is sequential and it is expected that participants will take part in all three days:
